In April, the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (VDGIF) announced that enthusiasts have downloaded its free HuntFishVA mobile app more than 25,000 times. The application is available for the iPhone®, iPod Touch®, and Android &trade platforms.
The HuntFishVA app was designed with hunters and anglers in mind, allowing users to search for a wide variety of hunting and fishing related information in Virginia on their smart phones.
According to VDGIF, the new app allows sportsmen to:
• Purchase a Virginia hunting or fishing license
• Get the latest VDGIF news
• Look up hunting regulations, seasons, and bag limits while in the field
• View freshwater fishing regulations and state record fish info
• Identify the fish just caught
• Get the sunrise and sunset times for your location
• Record trophy harvests
• Find nearby boat ramps, Wildlife Management Areas, and lakes
